The first week

I thought for the first few days Jacob and I would feel pretty tired and not wanting to see too many people, I was wrong.  We settled into UK time pretty quickly and was ready to catch up with some family.

First of all was Dave's dad and Margaret.  Jacob had a great time, walking up their garden path with his Grandad, finding the family cat and discovering how wonderful Quavers taste like.

We also saw my Nan (Jacob's Great Nan), family friend Jean, Lewis & Ju, Dave's Mum and Bob and then a weekend was planned at my brother's house near Grantham.

We had a great weekend.  The weather was fab on Saturday so we went out for a late breakfast, had a walk to a friend's small holding and introduced Jacob to some pigs, chucks, sheep and a horse but he was much more interested in the tractors he could climb into and 'drive'!

It wasn't so much leaving though, a full scale tantram happened.  Anthony and I did well taking it in turns to hold Jacob whilst he was crying, screaming, squirming and generally being a toddler in the middle of a paddy.  He didn't come out of it until we arrived back at Ant's and Lyn performed some sort of magic!

Jacob also learned about swinging between two people holding his hands (thanks Auntie Lyn and Uncle Ant), being on someone's shoulders (thanks again Uncle Ant) and started his love affair with Thomas the Tank Engine (oh and thanks again Uncle Ant).  Which we've watched many times over the last four weeks.

Ready for a long trip

Well, as a few of you may know, Jacob and I went to the UK on 21st September for 4 and a half weeks.  We met our friends at the airport and said a very sad farewell to our husbands.  Once through the security gate, and after a bit of food and a coffee, things started to get a little easier and the kids looked like they were ready to get on the big plane waiting for them.

The journey wasn't so bad but it did help knowing that I was going to see my Dad at Heathrow Airport and then my Mum at my UK residence.  The start of many catch ups with many, many family and friends.
